Ancho Chile Flakes - The ancho chile pepper is a dried poblano chile. It has the ancho flavor profile consists of raisins, earthy chocolate, tobacco and its color runs from dark reddish brown to almost black. Next to the chipotle chile, this is one of our favorites. It has a complex smokey subtle spicy pepper flavor, not quite as spicy as a chipotle or jalapeño.

Ancho Chile Flakes - The ancho chile pepper is a dried poblano chile. The poblano chile is well known for its use in the famous Mexican dish, Chile Rellenos, which is a roasted poblano chile, stuffed with cheese and battered with a light flour dusting and egg white, and then pan fried. It is served with Rellenos Sauce, which is a mild light tomato sauce with sautéed onions, pepper and chile powder. The Ancho Chile has approximately 4000 to 9000 Scoville heat units or on a scale of 1 to 10, it's a 3. - You can use this to season your strong flavored fishlike salmon, tuna Mahi-Mahi, chicken breasts, turkey, pork chops or beef steaks. Just spray or rub a little oil on your meat, season with salt and then grind on your Ancho Chile Flakes.

You can use this in place of "chile powder" in any or your recipes for a fresh Ancho flavor.
We offer these chile flakes in a reusable 4 oz. glass spice bottle with a quality plastic grinder top filled with 1.5 oz. of chile flakes. These grinders only crush the chile flakes to release their spice. They do not grind the flakes into a powder/granules.
